BIO

Kenzie Schuppert is 30 years old and lives in Jacksonville, Florida with her dog, Layla. She works from a home studio and produces wares for local fairs, small independent stores, and her online shop. Her functional work uses repetitive gestures and smoothed surfaces to implicate invested time and meditative efforts.

"My goal from the beginning has been to be disciplined in my craft and to strive to create quality in work by gaining experience in a range of skill sets. Learning and expanding my abilities allows me to be more subtly engaging and constantly advancing. Moving forward my work has shifted into combining these skills within conceptual constructs; ideas in which I explore narratives and express them in various mediums, chosen by the innate qualities specific to that material. By cognitively sifting through narratives,

I explore the potential written word has of being translated into physical form and how that form might retrospectively influence the text.  My work becomes vessels that drive perspective in stories. My current functional work allows me to  train my hands on a daily basis, continuing to learn how to refine and build while giving myself ample time to develop more critical concepts. This granted ability to take my time with research and development has allowed me to create work that I hope people will find to be stimulating, original, and connective."
